Thankful Tuesdays - I Am Thankful!

Happy Thankful Tuesday!

Hello Friends,

From this week forward, Believe Achieve Tuesdays, will be dedicated to giving Thanks to all the wonderful blessings in our lives. Being Thankful is an important key element to living life to the very fullest. Thankfulness is what brings sunshine to a rainy day, turns a frown into a smile and transforms tears into laughter. Being Thankful is how we should all begin and end our days. It's the littlest acts, such as this, which will make a profound difference in how we view our lives. It's a reminder of how very blessed we truly are, even in the most difficult and trying times.

Celebrate every Tuesday with us by saying "I AM THANKFUL!"

We challenge you to think about the things that may be causing you unwanted negativity or stress in your life and find a positive outlook for it. Whatever it is, there is ALWAYS a sunny side to every situation and an opportunity for success within every obstacle. Just by adding a little more Thankfulness into your life, you'll see exactly what you've been blessed with. In all things ordinary will emerge the most precious hidden blessings.

So, what are you most Thankful for today?

Thankful Tuesday was inspired by a recent email we received from one our friends. It's one those emails we all get, sometimes too often, that tell you to send it to 10 more friends. Laugh! You all know which ones we're talking about! And we know there are those who get a bit irritated over them. But today, on Thankful Tuesday, let's be thankful for them. Getting them means we have friends who are thinking about us! And what a blessing that is....to have Friends! :-)

Below is the email we received. If you're a wife/husband/significant other, a parent, a taxpayer, a home owner and have ears and legs, or all the above, you will relate! LOL This email was humorous and enlightening. You will stop complaining over the little things the second you finish this email. Enjoy, Friends!

Many Blessings....

Hugo and Roxanne

I AM THANKFUL:

FOR THE WIFE
WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE HUSBAND
WHO IS ON THE SOFA BEING A COUCH POTATO,
BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME
AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.

FOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES
BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME,
NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE.

FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING
AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION .

FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH
WHO SINGS OFF KEY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I CAN HEAR.

FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES
AT THE END OF THE DAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.

AND FINALLY, FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL

BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE FRIENDS
WHO ARE THINKING OF ME!

What are You Thankful for today?

Positive Thoughts for the Day

Allow Your Own Inner Light
to Guide You

There comes a time when you must stand alone.
You must feel confident enough within yourself
to follow your own dreams.

You must be willing to make sacrifices.
You must be capable of changing and rearranging
your priorities so that your final goal can be achieved.
Sometimes, familiarity and comfort need to be challenged.

There are times when you must take a few extra chances
and create your own realities.
Be strong enough to at least try to make your life better.
Be confident enough that you won't settle for
a compromise just to get by.

Appreciate yourself by allowing yourself the opportunities
to grow, develop, and find your true sense of purpose in this life.
Don't stand in someone else's shadow when it's your sunlight
that should lead the way.

BELIEVE YOU Can Make A Difference ---------------- The Dedication of Teachers Part One

Teachers possess incredible gifts. They have the ability to inspire the lives of their students, lead them to the threshold of their minds, open a door of possibilities, and instill in our children a desire to learn. They devote and dedicate their days, and most often their nights, in preparing lesson plans to make learning an adventure. Teaching is their lives, their calling, their passion. And in turn, they have all become magnificent contributors to our community in making a difference in the lives of our children.

It truly only takes one teacher who connects with a child to make a difference in that child's life. And so, we dedicate this post to all teachers who have profoundly changed the lives of our children around the world. It is because of your dedication and your passion to teach which makes all the difference in world of a child. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Many Blessings....

BELIEVE YOU Can Make A Difference Series -------- It Takes A Village To Raise A Child

~~~~ "It takes a village to raise a child." - African proverb ~~~~
There are two very important elements in life which matters the most to us: Children and Family. And for many of you, it's the same. Nothing else matters most than raising a child to discover their full potential and most importantly, in a loving family environment. As children get older and begin school, attend to after school activities, make friends, get involved in sports or simply play outside or hang out, they become exposed to an environment outside the "comfort and safety" of their home. They become part of something much larger. It's called a community. And this community can play a major role in raising our children. It can either help or hurt our very best efforts.
At this very moment, throughout our biggest cities or our smallest towns, there are children being kissed goodnight and tucked warmly in their beds, while other children have no family or a place to call home. There are parents ending a long day at work, while other moms and dads are heading to their second and sometimes third job. There are children fortunate enough to be involved in after school organizations, when at the same time, there are parents worried about drug pushers and gangs in their neighborhood.
Also, at this very moment, there are dedicated people and volunteers coaching our children, tutoring and helping with homework and there are those who organize events to help kids stay out of trouble. Today, we had the pleasure of spending an evening with people with hearts of gold.
Lucy, coordinator of the Friday Night Kid's Club, at a neighborhood Church, spends every Friday night with 25-35+ children from the neighborhood. They range from kindergarten to sixth grade, along with a few teenagers who give her a helping hand. She organizes dinner and dessert for the children, along with arts and craft projects. This evening, they were making their own Christmas trees. Even with her own work, going to school and having a family of her own, she's always there for the kids on Friday night.
A few weeks ago, our cousins "Nacho" and Anna Pina, heard it was getting tougher to find volunteers to provide and make dinner for the children to keep the weekly event going. Bless their hearts! They offered to make enchilada casserole and rice for the kids. They don't even attend this particular church. Then, we overheard a conversation they were having about the event with other family members. We knew, this was yet another beautiful way for us to make a difference, so we offered a helping hand. Hugo and I made cupcakes for dessert and assisted with the chopping and prepping for the main course.
Needless to say, we had a wonderful time. Dinner was delicious! Then again, anything made with LOVE is always good. Seeing the children enjoy our dinner, rushing Anna for more cupcakes (a little startling for her because she is 8 months pregnant, LOL) and devouring every little bite, filled our hearts. Everyone was so thankful and appreciative for what we had done, but we were most grateful to be part of a blessing in helping to raise a child other than our own in a positive environment. Events like this keep kids from trouble when it's not so hard to find on a Friday nights. It provides children a safe place to be in the company of those who care, and most importantly, it strengthens the community in which they live.
Thank you, Lucy, for all that you do for the community and its children. And Thank you, Nacho and Anna, for letting us help out with dinner and dessert. You are all prime inspirational examples of how No One is too small to make a difference. It certainly does take a village to raise a child. And we're so blessed to have been part of that today.
Many Blessings....
BELIEVE in the Beauty of Your Dreams Series - Michael Jordan
"You've got to win in your mind before you win in your life."
-John Addison
Michael Jordan has an endless list of credentials displaying his countless achievements. The National Basketball Association has named him Most Valuable Player 5 times and the 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He holds the NBA record for most consecutive games scoring in double-digits, including 30 regular season games with 50 points or more and is the only 40 year old NBA player to ever score over 40 points. He's also a 2 time Olympic Gold Medalist where he won his last medal in the 1992 Summer Games with the original Dream Team, perhaps the greatest team ever assembled. Michael Jordan's list of accomplishments are immeasurable by any other athlete.
Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. When he was still a toddler, his parents, James and Delores Jordan, moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. He has 2 brothers and two sisters.
As a child, Jordan's first love was baseball. He pitched a one-hitter game and was voted MVP. As a youngster, he also played basketball and football. He attended Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina where he played basketball. During his sophomore year, Jordan was cut from the varsity team. This single event was a motivational turning point in his life. Instead of throwing in the towel and giving up after failing to make the team, Jordan used it to awaken his competitive desire to succeed. He'd practice for hours and hours on the court. "Whenever I was working out and got tired and figured I ought to stop, I'd close my eyes and see that list in the locker room without my name on it," Jordan said, "and that usually got me going again." His hard work, his desire, and his passion led him to eventually making the team. He even led the team to the state championship.
Michael Jordan since has become the most popular athlete in the United States, and is no doubt, the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball. He has single-handedly redefined basketball and no player in NBA history has achieved so much in any amount of time.
Michael Jordan is a prime inspirational example of someone who BELIEVED in the beauty of his dreams, worked hard to pursue them, never gave up and ACHIEVED unbelievable success. He won in his mind before he won on the court.
Many Blessings....
BELIEVE in Changes
"You've got to win in your mind before you win in your life."
-John Addison
We all want to see positive changes in our lives. Whether we want to see changes in our relationships, our financial situation, our weight, our career, etc. , the first step to improving any situation is to make positive changes to your mind.
We can't expect to see any positiveness in our relationships if we find ourselves dwelling on something that happened in the past. Just as we'll never make any steps forward with our financial situation if our thoughts are always focusing on debt. The same goes with a weight loss program and a career advancement. We must believe in positive changes and literally, change our mind to change our life.
Through our experience, "Feeding our Mind", did just that. We understand that everything starts with a choice. We choose and have complete control of our thoughts, emotions and actions. But, before we reached that point in our journey of self-discovery, we fed our minds everyday with positive affirmations and inspirational stories. Doing so, kept us focused, inspired and open. It gave us the opportunity to build up a reservoir of positive energy. It guided us to discovery our passion and our purpose. We changed our minds, and changed our lives forever.
Our next few posts, the BELIEVE in the Beauty of Dreams series, will help you in filling your reservoir (your mind) with positive messages and inspirational stories. This will help in building up your momentum to making wonderful changes in your life. You'll be inspired by those who Believed and Achieved.
Get ready for an extraordinary ride of pure inspiration. Believe in changes. They'll be happening real soon.
Many Blessings....
What Makes You Happy?
Do you know what makes you truly happy? It's important to sit back and really think about this question. Grab a pen and some paper, and write it down.
What makes YOU truly happy?
Most people can tell you about what makes their spouses, children, parents and even their friends happy. But when it comes to knowing the little things that make our hearts sing, we often have no clue.
In order to live a life of pure happiness, a truly authentic life, you must know what makes you happy. Not knowing this can lead us into feeling there's something missing in our lives.
Take the time today to find delight in the simple pleasures of life. Notice all the small things that are often overlooked which bring you joy throughout your day. Think about the moments of happiness that are uniquely your own.
Doing this myself, I've discovered I find happiness in baking and trying a new pie or cake recipe. I love "feeding my mind" with positive affirmations and readings. I find delight in learning something new, good food, fuzzy socks, chocolate, fresh brewed coffee, the scent of honeysuckle and lavender, music and laughter.
Recognizing and embracing these moments of happiness will lead you to living the life you've always wanted. So, tell us, what makes your heart sing?
Many Blessings....
Life Isn't a Dress Rehearsal
We have all heard the saying, "Life isn't a dress rehearsal", yet many of us unconsciously act as if it were. We always seem to be waiting for a better or more opportune moment to play the leading roles in our lives. Why wait and what exactly are we waiting for??
We all have dreams and aspirations....but in order to make our dreams come true, we must believe in ourselves, and take the action to pursue the life of our dreams.
Whether you want to be a famous ballerina one day, where people across the ocean come to see you dance, or a professional basketball player who never misses a free throw, it takes work and action. Your dreams of being a ballerina or a basketball player will unfortunately always remain a dream if you don't take any action to achieve this.
So, make today the beginning of your new life. Make today the day you discover your true potential. Today is the day you BELIEVE and ACHIEVE.
Many Blessings....
P.S. Believe in the beauty of your dreams with these Inspirational quotes....
"All successful men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose." ~BrianTracy
Pat Yourself On The Back
Life can have you running in circles. Our days are packed with endless tasks, to-do's and projects. You have doctor's appointments, clients to meet, phone calls to make, meetings to attend, classes to teach, luncheons, events, and we haven't even mentioned deadlines. And if you have kiddos, the list just goes on and on. Now you've probably added PTA meetings, teachers to call, field trips, fundraisers to plan, soccer practice, ballet lessons, homework, dinner and the grocery shopping. You get one task crossed off the list, only to add a few more. We're exhausted just thinking about it. By the end of your day you're probably exhausted, too. Not only are you beat, now you're a bit frazzled because there's plenty more on your list to do. You're starting to feel stressed, which can then lead to moodiness. And that same attitude can ruin what would have been a wonderful evening.
I had found far too many evenings feeling this way. I was always feeling like I still had so much to do. I would stare down at my to-do list which I wrote up that same morning, trying to find the energy just to keep myself from falling over. Because only 7 out of the 10 things I wanted to accomplish were checked off, I'd feel like I failed in some way. I'd stress over what I didn't get done, completely overlooking all that I had accomplished in my busy day.
Then came my moment of enlightment, the answer to my "why am I feeling so bad" question. Hugo helped me with that. On one of the evenings where I had several projects to finish, I couldn't shake this terrible feeling I was having. I had been up late the night before, woke up early to finish, only to be stressing over more projects ahead of me. Hugo asked me to stop for a minute. A minute, at this point, seemed like a lifetime to me. As if, in that very minute, I could have accomplished a gazillion things. But it was this one minute that had changed how I viewed my days, my projects and most importantly, myself.
He reminded me how much he loved my diligence, my work ethic and the passion I put into everything I do. He also said if I focused more on the accomplishments of the day, instead of the unfinished tasks, I'd be much happier and satisfied with how I spent my day. He was exactly right!! I'm so grateful to have a wonderful partner in life, who shares with me a different perspective. Sometimes, when you're the person, going through the motions, it's harder to see the things that are right under our noses. I knew my attitude had to change, I just didn't know how to do it.
Now those days are few and far between. I tackle one task at a time and give it my very best. My evenings are spent smiling and winding down to reenergized my spirits for the next day and the next project.
So, the lesson of today is to pat yourself on the back. We all have our "crazy" days. It's those "crazy" days that remind us that we are Alive!! Stop for a minute, walk away from the task, and refocus your thoughts on all the achievements of the day. Instead of seeing a long list of "still to-do's", create a new list of your many accomplishments. Title it Today's Achievements!! Give yourself an A+ for a job well done. You'll feel good, be much happier, and satisfied knowing you gave the day the best you had to give. Knowing this now, will bring about, a more happier you.
Many Blessings....
What is the Difference Between a Good Day and a Bad Day?
You!! And one secret ingredient.
If you haven't figured it out yet, let this be your moment of enlightenment. We're going to help you uncover one of Life's greatest secrets. It's really no secret at all, actually. But it seems there are only a few who realize the power they possess at their fingertips. A power so incredible it will not only change your day, but change your life! This secret is called....Choice.
You and Choice, are what makes the difference between a good day and a bad day. It's You and Choice, which impact our emotions and mindset. And it's You and Choice, that determine the quality of the day.
Through our own personal experiences, we've found out some interesting facts.
*Everyday is wonderful!! Everyday can be great!! Therefore the quality of our days are in direct proportion to the amount of positive energy you output. If you aren't making any effort to change your "not-so happy" mood, you will see no return.
*Even bad days are filled with blessings!! Sometimes all we have to do is adjust our perspective on how our day began and look forward to a more positive rest of the day.
*Cloudy, Cold, rainy days spent inside your home or in a cubicle at work, also do not seem to alter enthusiasm and a positive mindset.
*Starting the day with a smile and taking a moment to express your gratitude for life's simple pleasures, are greeted with many more happy, good days.
In conclusion, there really is no difference between a good day and a bad day. You ultimately make the difference. You and the Power of Choice. Today, what will you do with your secret powers?
Many Blessings....
Life's Many Blessings
Life is always showering us with many incredible Blessings. Some are obvious and other's are waiting to be noticed. Our days are filled with them. It's the roof over our heads, it's our children, it's our good health, it's the rain, the sunshine, it's even the smile from the stranger at the post office. In order to fully appreciate all our wonderful blessings, we need to open our eyes, our hearts and our minds. Otherwise, they will go unnoticed. And sadly, we'll end our days wishing for things we never realized were right under our noses.
To open your life to all your many blessings, stop what you're doing right now. Think about the last time you were the most happiest. Was it this morning, when you rolled over to see your spouse's sleepy face or when you heard your children call out to you? It could have happened last week, when you ran into an old friend, spent the afternoon with your mom or even spent some time doing something just for you. Whatever your last happiest moment was.....take a mental picture of it. Think of it as a snapshot of the perfect moment, your "Kodak" moment. Now, imagine staring into that snapshot and take in all the emotions of that experience. This is called being in the moment, living in the very moment something happens.
Here's an amazing analogy expressed by our friend Giovanna Garcia of Imperfect Action..."To me, be in the moment is a lot like, if you could take photos of your life. And you live each frame of the photos, one frame at a time and each frame is detach from another. You would only look at the frame you are in at this very moment, not the frame before or the frame after."
Think of life as Photography. "Photography takes an instant out of life, altering life by holding it still." When you begin to think of your own life this way, you truly open up to the wonderful hidden blessings all around you. Take your moment today to Be in the moment, capture all the beauty that goes unnoticed and open up your life to it's many incredible possibilities.
Many Blessings....
The Power of Nature
The beautiful trees, the fragrant roses, the never-ending rows of lush grapevines, the cascading mountains, the relaxing surf.....these are all the magnificent sights of Nature. Nature can be found anywhere and everywhere. Therefore it's the perfect symbol of absolute abundance. And ABUNDANCE is what we desire most in life. Having more than enough Happiness, more than enough Love, more than enough Joy, more than enough Wealth, more than enough Knowledge and Wisdom to share with the rest of the world. Abundance gives us more opportunities to Give. And when we all experience our absolute abundance and share it with others, we're creating a wonderful place to live.
Use the power of nature as a perfect reminder to always think abundance and to lift your spirits with an abundance of Positive energy.
We love to pack a picnic and take the family up to Shaver Lake. With the lake at 5500 feet elevation, the air up there is ever so refreshing. The drive leading to the lake is one of the best parts of our trip. The fresh air coming in through our open windows, the endless sights of enormous pine trees, and even the winding road is exhilarating. The day is always filled with much excitement and laughter. the best medicine for anything ailing you. We always remember to stop for a quick moment to completely take in all the beauty around us. We allow the power of nature to work its wonders.
You can experience nature's abundant powers anywhere. Visit a nearby park and enjoy a short walk. Take notice of the different trees, the many flowers and the squirrels. The squirrels are always fun to watch! You can even sit by a fountain. The sound of running water is known to have calming effects. You can even get lost in your imagination or gaze at a photo or poster of your favorite nature scene. Imagine the relaxing sounds of the ocean waves, the sea gulls overhead, the sand between your toes and the spectacular site of the sunset on the horizon.
Today, let the power of nature embrace you and recharge your positive energy. Remember, it can be found anywhere, even the backyard. Where will you find your rejuvenation?
Many Blessings....
