Cherished Friends
God must have known there would be times
We'd need a word of cheer,
Someone to praise a triumph
Or brush away a tear.
He must have known we'd need to share
The joy of "little things"
In order to appreciate
The happiness life brings.
I think He knew our troubled hearts
Would sometimes throb with pain,
At trials and misfortunes,
Or goals we can't attain.
He knew we'd need the comfort
Of an understanding heart
To give us strength and courage
To make a fresh, new start.
He knew we'd need companionship,
Unselfish... lasting... true,
And so God answered the heart's great need
With cherished friends... like you!

Hi Hugo and Roxanne .. lovely poem - happy Friday poem - thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy friends are scattered around the world and we contact each other as and when .. I don't have people locally (one now), but I'm very independent and not good at relying on others for help, assistance etc .. I know what's what .. and if I can cope with this year particularly .. I'm fine.
I'm not dependent on people, yet they are there for me .. and also it's lovely to suddenly be contacted with a hi, how are you?
I make good friends as I go along and keep in touch with people I value over the years; since I've been spending time in hospitals with my uncle and mother I've made other new friends of all ages, and I know that our positiveness has helped them and they have appreciated input from my mother, my uncle and me .. in fact last night I was with the local friend whose father died at the home last year .. and my mother had said to me that I should drive across from Penzance to pick up her daughter and help Linda in her time of sadness, by picking Emma up .. the trouble was it's 300 miles away .. we laughed and still do .. my mother is amazing.
So this time has been great .. new friends .. I really appreciated my blogging friends and the connections I have made with Craig and Gio .. it's wonderful to have the same outlook in life ..
Enough - it's Friday .. just passing on happiness to as many as possible, or empowering others to help themselves is so valuable and something I've learnt .. still learning loads though ..
Have a great weekend .. and thank you for your support .. your offer of a play on the beach with the kids is something I look forward to - with my believe achieve succeed family ..
