Positive NEWS Thursday - September Concert Foundation

"The September Concert is a global day of music for peace....this is a good opportunity for all of us to think about what it really means to live in a peaceful world." Haroku Smith, Founder of September Concert Foundation.

Since the first anniversary of September 11th in 2002, the September Concert Foundation has filled the skies with music "bringing humanity together expressing our shared hope of a peaceful planet."

It all began as one person's dream to bring hope and light to New York City. Today, Haroku Smith's dreams have manifested into an event of global proportions. In 2008, 8,000 music makers in 250 organized concerts across America and around the world from Ghana to Japan, filled the skies with music of peace.

Each year, at 2 p.m. , and at every venue, the September Concert theme song is sung. The song, "Give Us Hope", written by New York based composer Jim Papoulis, sends the message of "a gift of promise from children to the future."

It's such a beautiful song, we included the lyrics in this post. On the September Concert website there is a truly touching video highlighting their 2008 concerts. The theme song is sung in the background by a children's choir. The song and the video will melt your heart. It's incredible and heartwarming to see the many different nations joining together to share a common passion: Peace On Earth. It's a must see video! Click Here to view it.

Today, let's give thanks and gratitude for all that we have. And do our little part to bring more love, compassion and peace to our home called Earth. We all dream of living in a peaceful world. Believe it's possible, as Haroku Smith has. Her idea, an act of kindness, has now spread many miles and across oceans to bring more love to our world. She's made an amazing difference and so can you. Anything is possible....as long as we Believe.

Many Blessings....

Hugo and Roxanne

Give Us Hope

Listen to the sound of my voice.
Can you feel the beat of my heart?
Listen to the questions i have.
Listen to me.

It's all very simple
to see what we mean.

Give us hope.
My voice is calling.
Can you see? Look in my eyes.
Can you feel? My hand is reaching.

Give us hope
And we'll show you the way.

Listen to the sound of my voice.
Can you feel the beat of my heart?
Listen to the questions i have.
Listen to me.

We are the future. Help us believe.

Give us hope.
My voice is calling.
Can you see? Look in my eyes.
Can you feel? My hand is reaching.

Give us hope
And we'll show you the way.

Take my hand, Now look in my eyes....

Give us hope.

  2. Hi Hugo and Roxanne .. it's not an easy time of year for us globally - too many people had friends or family links there .. it was such a cruel event: people simply don't need to do that - life is too precious.

Thanks for the music - tomorrow will be tricky .. all the best

  3. Hello Hugo and Roxanne,

How often do we think "what can I do, I am only one person" One person can do a lot it only takes one good idea that is followed through on. If it is a good idea it will catch on like wild fire and it will spread. Thank you for the nice post.

    Have a great day.

  4. Hi Roxanne & Hugo,
At least once a week I pass by your blog just for some good reading. I thought since I've been visiting your blog a couple of months now, I would commend you on the nice and positive outlook you share with the rest of the world.

I read your posts at how this blogsite came about. And I can say that I know the hardships you have gone through in taking care of a pre-mature baby. My 2nd son was also a preemie and though he didn't go through the really hard road your daughter travelled, he did have to go through a few blood transfusions before he came home.

Keep up the good work and positive outlook in life. But most importantly.....Keep the faith.

  5. I think we need more peace especially in my country. Hope God will have to intervene and so people would find it in their hearts that peace and love is more rewarding.
